No sneaker has been trendier than the Nike Dunk’s “Panda” colorway since it debuted in March 2021. Beloved for its easy-to-wear and timeless design, the “Panda” Dunk has gone viral on social media and inspired seemingly dozens of white-and-black shoes by every sneaker brand in the world.
Including Jordan Brand.
With “Panda” hype as strong as ever, Jordan is set to release the very sneaker that actually started the wave some thirty-plus years ago: the Air Jordan 1 High ‘85 “Black/White.” The colorway’s return will not only fuel the “Panda” trend, but it will also ensure this Jordan 1 finally receives the appreciation it rightfully deserves.

When the original Jordan 1 “Black/White” debuted in 1985, it was considered a low-key style for the shoe. While appealing, the design was nowhere near as popular as the other original Jordan 1 colorways worn by Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls. It wasn’t even as popular as the Jordan 1 “Shadow,” the other versatile, lifestyle-based colorway Nike had released in ‘85. Things didn’t really change much for the white-and-black Jordan 1 when retro Air Jordans took over sneaker culture in the 2000s, either: the colorway generated little buzz as part of 2008’s “Countdown Pack,” and was slept-on by the masses when it was reissued in 2014.
But the “Panda” trend at the height of its popularity, and Jordan Brand dedicated to bringing back the colorway in true-to-original form on the beloved Jordan 1 High ‘85 silhouette, the “Black/White” is poised to be one of the biggest releases of the year for sneaker resellers.
