If you’ve been keeping up trends over the last few months, then you know that sneakers with a Y2K look are having a moment right now. But what you may not know is that one brand in particular has been releasing the kinds of shoes with techy, Y2K-inspired details before ASICS, New Balance, Nike, and adidas started bringing back sneakers from their respective early 2000s catalogs this year.

The brand we’re talking about is Salomon.

Founded in the heart of the French Alps, Salomon has been making performance sportswear with an outdoors spin since forever… well, more specifically, since 1947, which is basically forever ago. In spite of all the trends that have come and gone over the years, Salomon has remained dedicated to its craft of making ultra comfortable sneakers (and other outdoors gear) that can stand up to quite literally anything.

Because of their premium craftsmanship and heritage, Salomon shoes have been beloved by all walks of life. And in recent years, Salomon’s sneakers have started to become more ingrained in sneaker culture thanks to the brand’s collaborations with Kith. Not too long ago, Salomon and Kith teamed up to release a bunch of different colorways of the Salomon XT-6 GTX, a rugged yet sleek shoe that features a GORE-TEX membrane that keeps inclement weather away while you look stylish in the process. Sandy Liang and JJJJound are two other ultra-buzzy collaborators with the brand right now.

Other key Salomon models that have been popular among collectors include the Salomon XT-4, a trail running sneaker, the Salomon ACS Pro, a mountaineering shoe that has momentum on TikTok’s gorp community, and the Salomon XT-Wings 2, the sequel to the brand’s first trail running shoe.

While some Salomon sneakers like the Kith-approved XT-6 may not be 100% identical to the types of Y2K-looking shoes that seem to be spawning with more regularity by the day, they nonetheless feature the same technical-minded design ethos at heart. Which, if you ask us, is a good thing if you’re one of our Consignor Partners looking to capitalize on the Y2K trend now—and later. When the early 2000s wave eventually dies down, it’s a safe bet to assume that Salomon’s footwear won’t lose any hype or momentum. The brand’s been doing what it does best for years and years at this point, which is make a premium shoe with functional details in a variety of interesting colors for anyone looking to wear something that’ll last.

To that we say, if you have any of Kith or Sandy Liang’s collaborations with Salomon, or any on-trend Salomon styles, we want your pairs. And you’ll be enjoying the profits!
